Granite and Engineered Stone
Granite and Engineered Stone - DrillingMetal-bond segmented drill bits used in various diameters. They are usually used in vertical drills or CNC machines. They usually have with ½” gas threaded shank and must always be cooled. Granite and Engineered Stone - CuttingMetal-bond segmented discs of any diameter are used. The discs are available in continuous, semi-continuous or segmented versions and can be straight or concave (to hollow out interiors). Granite and Engineered Stone - Finger RoutersMetal-bond segmented finger routers are used as a gauge in exterior milling or for interior milling. They are used mainly in CNC machines with a ½” gas thread. They are available in various diameters and heights. Metal- and resin-bonded continuous finger routersare used to polish edges with various profiles in CNC machines. They can polish interior radii of 8 mm or greater. Four steps are used for quartz-based engineered stone and a 5th or 6th step employing a resin-bonded diamond finger router is used to polish granite. Metal- and resin-bonded continuous grooving fingers are used to cut channels in kitchen worktop drainers. Four steps are used for quartz-based engineered stone and a 5th or 6th step employing a resin-bonded diamond finger is used to polish granite. Granite and Engineered Stone - Milling routersRough-grinding routers: Segmented sintered plates are used for flat rough grinding whilst cups of various diameters and heights are used for rough contour grinding. Milling routers of various profiles are also available for rough grinding edges with portable machines. Profiling tools: These are peripheral segmented milling routers used for grinding using various profile types. Grooving tools (pilaster or slot-edge) are also available. Straight edge-polishing tools: Metal-bond segmented or continuous-rim cup wheels used in initial milling processes on straight-line edge-polishing machines. These tools can be used for gauging or moulding. Milling routers for portable machines: Milling routers used for contouring. Employed as a 3-tool set (2 medium- and fine-electroplated/braze-bonded tools and 1 rough-sintered tool), they can achieve an excellent finish on marble edges. These types of tools are used with bearing touchers, which can be made of plastic or stainless steel. The process should be finished using resin-bonded diamond milling routers to polish the stone. Milling routers for CNC machines: Milling routers used for contouring. Employed as a 4-tool set (metal-bonded COARSE, MEDIUM, FINE and POLISHING sintered tools), they can achieve a fine-polished edge on engineered stone without using abrasive wheels. With granite, or if a very high polish on the engineered stone is desired, a 5th and 6th step should be used employing a resin-bonded diamond wheel to achieve a polish of equal or superior quality to that on the face. Draining board routers: Segmented rough-grinding tools used to mill the draining board on inclined surfaces. Sintered tools are then used to give the inclined edge a good finish. For the inclined flat surface, resin-bonded diamond tools are used to achieve a perfect polish. Granite and Engineered Stone - Standard Profiles
