Electrolytically bonded tools generally have a single layer of diamond, which makes them low-cost. The agglomerate used is nickel, which is deposited in an electrolytic bath. This technique produces highconcentration grinding wheels that have a high cutting capacity and are highly resistant to deformation. They are usually employed in short series in which it is essential that the diamond profile remains unaltered.
Diamond tools are used to dress tungsten carbide while CBN tools are used to dress treated steels.
These tools generally work on the part requiring machining and perform very well when applied to materials like plastics, composites, fibres (aerospace and wind power sectors), cast steels, friction materials, automobile transmissions, etc.
