POMDI – Herramientas de Diamante, a leading industrial diamond tool manufacturer, has recently launched a new line of PCD milling tools used to form curves in ophthalmic lenses. This product release completes the firm’s range of organic lens cutting solutions.

As well as supplying specific tooling for the market’s leading machinery manufacturers (such as Schneider and Satisloh), POMDI has the capacity to design bespoke tools that meet clients’ specific needs. Its latest developments are designed to be compatible with new free-form software applications.

The latest-generation of ophthalmic lens tools employs natural diamond to produce the required finish and synthetic derivatives, like PCD and CVD, to enhance tooling performance. Each tool is selected specifically for the lens material — CR39, polycarbonate or TRIVEX.

POMDI’s clients had the opportunity to see the quality of the firm’s new line of organic lens milling tools at the recent MIDO Exhibition.
